Manual Scythe Grain Harvesting

Its printed title: The Agronomy and Biomechanics of Manual Cereal Harvesting: Scythe Protocols, Sheaf Binding, and Stooking Dynamics

How to cut grain by hand, from choosing the day to standing the sheaves. It explains why the scythe goes in at yellow ripeness, which it puts at 25 to 30% kernel moisture, compares the heavy American snath with the European one made for long mowing, and covers straw bands, stooks of 8 to 12 sheaves as it builds them and the cap sheaf. The field craft is clear. Its talk of fluid dynamics inside the stook rests on models of other farm ventilation, not of stooks.
