Berlin-Brandenburg Traditional Ceramics Report

Its printed title: High-Fired Ceramic Engineering and Utilitarian Tableware Production in the Glacial Basin of Berlin-Brandenburg: Regional Mineralogy, Kiln Pyrotechnology, and Vitrified Stoneware Praxis for Post-Industrial Subsistence

Stoneware for the Brandenburg table and pantry, from the Görzke potters and their lead-free Bunzlau glazes to Seger's firing cones, devised in Berlin. It traces the varved clays of Zehdenick and Glindow, then covers clay preparation, a home-built kick wheel, tableware and fermentation crocks, drying, glazes such as a slip of local iron clay, wood ash and quartz, kiln design and wood firing. Many firing temperatures survive extraction, but the salt-glaze threshold does not.
