Berlin Root Coffee Substitute

Its printed title: Systemic Integration of Cichorium intybus and Taraxacum officinale as Locally Cultivated Coffee Surrogates in the Berlin-Brandenburg Region: Agronomic, Phytochemical, and Culinary Dynamics

Chicory and dandelion roots grown in Brandenburg and roasted for a caffeine-free coffee, with tiramisu in view. It says chicory grows best at 15 to 20 °C and bolts above 25 °C, gives sowing depth and spacing, and treats the crop as a break against clubroot. On brewing it advises a coarser grind and a short extraction in a moka pot or espresso machine, because the roots give up their flavour fast. The framing is commercial, and its gut-health claims need checking.
